Your physiotherapist will be able to answer this question after your initial assessment. Most people typically require 4 to 6 visits and they are often spaced out every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the condition we are treating.
-
The physiotherapist will first spend some time talking with you and asking you questions, to get a good understanding of your problems and goals. They will do a very thorough assessment of your inner ear balance organs, the parts of your brain that deal with balance, and they will look at your standing balance and walking abilities. They will try and figure out the cause of your symptoms and will talk with you about what they found in their assessment and what the best plan is to help you. They will get you started on your treatment program, which usually involves some exercises to do at home.
-
It is possible that some assessment and treatment techniques could provoke symptoms, but this is usually brief and temporary. The physiotherapist will explain what to expect during your session, and if you have any concerns they will be happy to discuss these with you and make modifications during the session as needed. They specialize in working with people with dizziness, and you are in good hands.
-
Wear whatever clothing and footwear is most comfortable for you. You will need to remove your shoes for parts of the assessment.
